Artist: Mike Joyce

Mike Joyce is a New York born graphic designer and owner of Stereotype Design. Drawing from his love of punk rock and Swiss modernism, two movements that have (almost) nothing to do with one another.
He has designed album packaging for established artists such as Iggy Pop, Morphine, Katy Perry, The Lemonheads, Fall Out Boy, Korn, Thirty Seconds to Mars, Natalie Merchant, Heart, and Aretha Franklin.
In 2012 Mike launched swissted.com, a personal project combining his love of Swiss graphic design and punk rock by redesigning old punk, hardcore, and indie rock show flyers into hundreds of International Typographic Style posters.
A while ago he worked on the packaging for ‘This is War’ album by 30 Seconds to Mars, a band fronted by American actor Jared Leto. All their previous material had a strong red and black theme, sat alongside detailed photography. Being a fan of the band myself and the album artwork, i can now understand why i liked it so much.

This guy is a genius! His posters are so brilliant, using transparency to bring together colours and typography. Some of the overlapping colours create an almost psychedelic effect that i really like.
